Fit refers to the options of fitting the blinds inside the frame recess, or fitting the blind to the outside of the frame or wall above. The key with inside fit is checking your recess depth (check for any obstructions, mullions, window latches or door handles). Then with outside fit, what is the architrave thickness or what is the space above the frame to fit brackets. Inside fit is very common but you will have light gaps. Outside fit is generally used when you can't fit inside or if you are trying to reduce light gaps.

• 50mm Venetian: 70mm
• 25mm Venetian: 40mm
• Honeycomb: 40mm
• Vertical: 90mm (minimum frame depth required for inside fit 45mm)

Control side refers to the placement (left of right) of the mechanism that allows the user to operate the blind. To help you decide, consider what side is easiest to access, and what side is away from the opening of the door or window if possible. If motorised (Roller or Roman) this is the end that is either easiest to recharge the battery operated motor from, or the end the hard wiring is to.

Control type refers to the mechanism that moves the blind up and down. Standard type is chain operated, if this applies to your order please select a chain operated colour in the drop down list. This will be the colour of your control unit and brackets.

The other option is motorized with either a rechargeable battery motor or a hardwired electric motor, if this applies to your order please select a motor in the drop down list. If you choose a motor, you must also order the appropriate remote which can be found in the motorisation section of the website. If your motor of choice is the rechargeable battery option you must also order a charger.

• 500mm and under have an external battery pack due to size of motor
• 550mm-2400mm select the 1.2nm motor
• 2400mm and over select the 1.8nm motor

The chain colour refers to the colour of the chain operating the blind. Coordinating accessory colours work best, for example having the chain, control, bottom rail all the same colour and a colour that compliments the blind fabric or surrounding features in your home. Plastic chains are very strong and durable. Stainless Steel Chains are recommended for coastal properties.

The Chain Safe is an optional extra you can add to each blind that will securely hold your chain in place against the window recess or wall. Chain safety devices are required by law in many countries as loose chains can pose a risk to young children. New Zealand does not currently have legislation for chain safety devices to be added to blind chains, but it is an easy to implement precautionary measure we offer to help keep your loved ones safe. Some people also just like the neat and tidy look. These can be used on our Roller and Roman Blinds.

Roll direction refers to the direction the fabric rolls off the tube. Front Roll means fabric will roll towards the room. Back Roll means the fabric will roll towards the window. Back Roll is always recommended for an outside fitted blind, as you want the fabric to roll backwards close to the frame. Front Roll is the best option for inside fit if you want to avoid window latches and door handles.

If you are ordering a Thermal Blockout or Designer Roller back roll, please check what colour the back of the fabric is. Whatever the back of the fabric colour is, you will see this across the top of the roll once installed. Some fabrics have off-white coatings and some have coloured coatings, you can find out by clicking the learn more button on the fabric ranges or ordering free samples. Front Roll is always recommended if you are using a Thermal Blockout Fabric with an off-white thermal coating inside the frame, for a continuation of the fabric colour.

Bottom Rail refers to the profile and colour of the aluminium rail which sits along the bottom edge of the Roller blind. We suggest linking all blind component colours together such as the Bottom Rail, Chain, and Control. Bottom Rails are available in flat, oval or round. We will be phasing out Round Bottom Rails. We also offer a fabric wrapped rail.

Chain length refers to the length of chain that operates your blind. We have standard continuous chain lengths listed in the drop down. Continuous means a constant beaded loop with no joiners connecting the chain. As a rule the chain must be just over half the drop of the blind. For example if your blind drop is 1400mm the chain must be at least our 750mm chain size. Once you add the two clear plastic stoppers to the chain provided with (Roller Blinds) this restricts the length of chain you can use, hence the need to order the chain length at just over half the drop of the blind. The length listed is the length the chain drops down to and then it loops back up the same amount. So our 1000mm chain will hang 1000mm down from the top of the blind control unit and loop back up 1000mm.
