Care and maintenance
If you need replacement parts please email us, we can courier out genuine parts and instructions for how to replace them. You can also bring blinds made by us to us for repairs, just contact us first so we are prepared for your visit.
TIPS: Prior to cleaning any blind always test an area that would not normally be seen. We are the manufacturer so we have spare parts, always use genuine replacement parts when required.
Aluminium, Wood Look and Wooden Venetian
Care
Before raising the Venetian ensure that the slats are tilted fully open. When opening the window behind the Venetian raise the blind first. Pushing your hands through the slats only causes unnecessary wear and tear on the blind and may cause one of the slats to kink if aluminium. Once kinked it cannot be unkinked. Where possible, leave blind in down position and tilt as required. Frequent lifting and locking off the blind will wear the cords faster than expected. Leaving blinds pulled up for long periods can also bow the slats.
Cleaning
Keeping your Venetian Blinds clean is as easy as using a feather duster once a fortnight. Aluminium and Composites can be wiped gently with a damp sponge if needed. Wooden Venetians are best dusted or wiped with a completely dry cloth. No water or moisture is recommended while cleaning Wooden Venetians at all. The key is regular cleaning.
Blockout, Light Filter Roller & Sunscreen Blinds
Care
When raising and lowering binds take care not to pull the chain across the fabric. This can cause fraying. Make sure the stoppers are secured to the chains to ensure the fabric stays on the tube. If you ever notice the fabric rolling uneven or more to one side, you need to contact us for a remedy. It needs to be sorted right away to avoid fabric damage. Always pull the chain straight up and down, if you pull on an angle you can pull chain out from drive unit.
Cleaning
For general cleaning use a feather duster regularly or alternatively vacuum the blind on a low setting. Stains or smudges can be removed with lukewarm water and neutral soap on a soft cloth. The cloth should be squeezed almost dry. We also recommend a white cloth as its unable to transfer colour dyes from the cloth to the blind. Hard rubbing must be avoided when cleaning as this may cause permanent damage to the blinds fabric. Some stains will not budge (oil, blood, fat, paint) in that situation, we suggest you contact us to see if a fabric replacement is the next step.
Honeycomb
Care
Raise and lower as infrequently as possible to lengthen the lifespan of the Honeycomb cords. The cords are 0.9mm thick so are very thin. When lifting and locking is required, try locking off the blinds in different positions on the cord, so that the same piece of cord isn't always being pinched by the metal cord lock. If and when you start to notice a fray, contact us before you have a full fray. We can offer a re-cord service, but since cords are a wear and tear item they don't have a warranty timeframe (as it fully depends on use). The re-cord service involves you arranging to get the blind to us. We will re-cord at no charge, if the item is oversized or to be returned to a rural location there will be a return freight fee. Take care not to place pressure on the pleats or you could permanently dimple the fabric.
Cleaning
Be very cautious before cleaning your Honeycomb Blinds, very soft light surface dusting with a clean feather duster is ok. Just be sure to not apply too much pressure. The fabric is delicate. We don't recommend any moisture related cleaning at all as you could permanently water mark the fabric. Only if necessary, you could use a hairdryer on the cool setting, to blow away dust trapped inside the creases or honeycombs cells. If you need a test piece of fabric to clean we have plenty of off cuts to spare.
Roman Blinds
Care
Roman Blinds are fairly robust and don't require much maintenance at all once installed. Take care to operate the chain correctly, pull back of chain to raise and front of chain to lower. Pull chain in downward motion, rather than across the fabric to prevent avoidable fabric abrasion. Never remove the clear plastic bobbles from the back of the blinds. These secure the lifting cords to the last baton and are crucial to the lifting and stacking motion of the blind. Please note wider and bigger blinds are heavier and will feel heavier as you raise the blinds especially as its getting to the top. Our blinds are very robust but if a part were to break we can easily send out replacement parts and instructions for repairs.
Cleaning
Roman Blinds shouldn't require too much cleaning (less is best). If you have a stain to manage you can contact us for an off cut for test cleaning purposes. Never use a solvent based cleaner. Never use a rubbing motion, soft dabbing and as localised to the stain as possible to avoid spreading. If required lukewarm water and neutral soap on a soft cloth. The cloth should be squeezed almost dry. We also recommend a white cloth as its unable to transfer colour dyes from the cloth to the blind.
Vertical Blinds
Care
Vertical Blinds have a lot if moving parts but are very robust. They very rarely require any extra attention. Careful use of the cords, chains or wands and ensuring blades aren't tangled is all that's required. Over a span of 10+ years some plastic weights or chains could show signs of UV perishing, we have spare parts on hand for sale. Never try to walk through the slats, never pull down hard on anything. Don't let pets play with them.
Cleaning
Due the the slats hanging vertically, they do not hold much dust. Baby wipes are perfect for removing insect marks.
